Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Policy and Leadership, University at Albany, SUNY
Hannah Kistler is an Assistant Professor at the University of Albany. She uses rigorous quantitative methods to answer questions about how best to improve and increase teacher quality, diversity, recruitment, and retention, particularly in schools serving historically marginalized students.
Hannah identifies as a former middle school teacher and a proud product of California’s public schools, and she brings her perspective as a practitioner and student to her work. She was drawn to the opportunity at Annenberg to engage with stakeholders and use evidence to generate research that has real impacts for students and teachers in Rhode Island.
She holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy from Vanderbilt University as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Smith College.
