The EdExchange

We turn rigorous research into real improvements for students and schools.

The Why

Demand for Evidence

In our current landscape, schools and school systems, especially those serving students with the greatest needs, are under increasing pressure to implement proven strategies that truly work. However, despite these well-intentioned demands, there’s a gap in the availability of actionable and relevant evidence that educators and policymakers can rely on to make timely, informed decisions.

Disconnected Research

This gap exists, in part, because the education research landscape is fragmented. Researchers often operate independently, and research studies get shaped by academic objectives, which might not align directly with the immediate needs of schools. As a result, the field misses opportunities to build on collective knowledge, doesn’t address practical needs, and remains scattered and inaccessible to those who need it most.

The EdExchange Solution

The Annenberg EdExchange aims to solve this by bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in a collaborative ecosystem. By working together, we can generate, synthesize, and build consensus on research that is directly relevant to educational challenges, making it easier for education systems at every level to implement evidence-based strategies that lead to real improvements for students.

How It Works

EdExchange EdExchange

The EdExchange Family

We have unified three resources – EdInstruments, EdWorkingPapers, and EdResearchForAction – to build a stronger, integrated whole. We envision the EdExchange as a thriving “town square” for evidence creation and use. Components of the EdExchange brand such as the functionality, layout, logos, and colors all reflect the convergence of ideas and collaboration. The logo, designed to resemble four roads merging into a town square, symbolizes our commitment to creating the grounds for iterative investigation, the sharing of knowledge across groups and contexts, and collective meaning-making in education.

Navigating the EdExchange

On any EdExchange website, you will find a top navigation bar or “ribbon” with the names of each EdExchange project. This allows for easy transfer between websites. Simply click the name of the project you wish to visit and begin accessing resources.

Recommended resources across the EdExchange

We want to assist you in finding a breadth of resources appropriate for your needs. When you access any resource on any EdExchange website, additional resources will automatically be recommended to you. These recommendations are based on the available resources across the EdExchange that are most closely related to the one you are viewing. Thus, if you choose to view a recommended resource, you may be guided to another project and be introduced to a new form of content.
