A list of emerging job opportunities in Urban Education Policy includes:
- Education policy makers at all governmental levels are increasingly asking for data-supported analyses that can inform the policy decision process. As a result, independent research organizations—non-profit and for-profit—and governmental research units indicate an increasing need for individuals who both understand the world of education and have the skills and training to design and conduct research as well as interpret data.
- Large consulting companies are entering the education market and regularly employ people who both understand the complexity of the education sector and have the skills to analyze schools and school systems for the purpose of making policy recommendations that would lead to better student outcomes.
- Local foundations, community development centers and reform support organizations are employing individuals who understand policy issues and can serve as intermediaries between the education sector and the community.
Collaborations with the Taubman Center for Public Policy, Annenberg Institute for School Reform, The Education Alliance, and other academic departments at Brown University further enrich the UEP experience for students.
