Working with education leaders across Rhode Island, we put evidence into action to drive improvement at the school, district, and state levels. We work with district and state leadership teams to co-develop and synthesize research agendas with the people they impact most. We provide the research rigor and implementation expertise necessary for systemic change, ensuring that every insight is grounded in the practical realities of RI classrooms and improves outcomes in districts and systemwide.
Student Mental Health Network
Our cohort of Rhode Island school districts receive targeted professional development and system-level implementation coaching from Brown University clinical researchers at BRIDGE throughout the year to improve student mental health service planning, provision, and monitoring.
Professional Learning Network for Math Instructional Improvement
Working closely with districts across the state, we facilitate networked learning for instructional leaders in developing, implementing, and monitoring the progress of improvement plans for high quality curriculum-based math instruction.
Implementing Evidence-Based Practices in Districts
Our partnerships with the Rhode Island School Superintendents Association (RISSA) and Annenberg's EdResearch for Action enable the production and implementation of high-quality and timely research through workshops with researchers and other programs.
Educator Staffing - Pathways and Retention
In partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and the Providence Public School District (PPSD), we help inform staffing policies such as hiring timelines and teacher incentives to ensure every student in RI has a qualified educator.
Understanding Persistently Effective Educators
In collaboration with PPSD and other districts across the country, we are undertaking a large-scale mixed-methods study on how persistently effective educators achieve outsized gains for students.
The Experience of RI School Leaders from Preparation through the Principalship
By partnering with RI Educator Preparation Providers, RIDE and school districts, we are gaining insight into the role of school leaders in RI and how that changes over time and within the course of leaders' careers.
Statewide Evidence-Based Policy Facilitation
Trusted for the rigor of our research, the strength of our relationships, and the depth of our local knowledge, we have been tapped to facilitate the Blue Ribbon Commission on the RI State Funding Formula and the Steering Committee on the RI Educator Evaluation System.
Brown Tutoring Corps
In collaboration with the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University, the Brown Tutoring Corps matches undergraduate tutors with local K-12 schools and community centers to support youth to make academic gains and develop positive mindsets and skills that contribute to postsecondary readiness.
