Samantha Kane

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Samantha Batel Kane is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. Her research interests are in the economics of education, and she studies how public and education policies shape what and where students study and work. Most recently, Samantha’s work examined the impact of state reproductive rights laws on women’s college choices in the United States. She has presented her research to academics and policymakers, including the White House Council of Economic Advisers and the U.S. Department of Education Office of the Chief Economist. At Annenberg, Samantha is pursuing research at the intersection of education and climate change.

Samantha holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Program Evaluation from Harvard University, as well as an M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School and a B.A. from Princeton University. Prior to her doctoral studies, Samantha worked in education policy for the U.S. Department of Education under the Obama Administration and for the Center for American Progress in Washington D.C.
