A new Annenberg report, authored by Aizat Nurshatayeva, Lindsay Page, and Ellen Bryer, documents the early conceptualization and implementation of SUCCESS. Drawing on qualitative interviews with state leaders, college administrators, and SUCCESS staff as well as foundational program documents, it traces how the initiative moved from initial budget allocation to practice within a system of community colleges that vary widely in size, location, and student demographics. The report is grounded in:
- Rich historical context concerning Massachusetts’ higher education landscape.
- Qualitative interviews providing granular detail from state and campus leaders.
- Identification of lessons learned regarding scaling, staffing, and adapting support models for varied student demographics.
The authors and participating institutions express gratitude to partners across Massachusetts, particularly the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges and the 15 community colleges, for their essential contributions to this documentation effort. Read the full report here.
